Hiddenness argument

  1. If God exists, is open to a personal relationship with everyone.
  2. If at some time (a) x is open to a personal relationship with y, (b) y does not believe that x exists, (c) the non-belief isn’t due to y’s resistance to a personal relationship with x, and (d) x can ensure y comes to believe that x exists, then at that time x ensures y comes to believe that x exists.
  3. If God exists, God can always ensure belief in his existence.
  4. So, if God exists, at every time everyone believes in God, unless they have been resisting a personal relationship with God. (1-3)
  5. Some non-resisting person does not believe in God.
  6. So, God does not exist. (4-5)

Question of time

Would God be fully open to a personal relationship with every person who does not resist at every time? Or would it be enough if he eventually wants to have such a relationship?
